Rush
A great Canadian band
Process:
At first, we chose to do our documentary on Sir Wilfred Laurier. then we decided to do it on the Canadian Rock band, Rush. We switched, because we both like Rock music, and we figured that Rush would make a very interesting project.
Pre-Production
We started out by collecting information about Rush. We knew some facts about them, but we learned a lot of new stuff by doing research. We put all of our information into four sections: The Start of Rock in Canada, The Beginning of Rush, The Life of Rush, and Rush Today.
Production
We then gathered a-roll and b-roll pictures for each of the four sections. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough pictures for the length of the documentary, and we had to find more pictures as we went along.
The next part of the production process was the recording of the narrative, and finding good background music for our video. The recording of the narrative didn't take too long, but there were many factors involved in making it sound clear. Some of these factors included not putting the microphone to close to your mouth, and making sure that there is no background noise in the room.
The song that we chose for our video is called One Little Victory, and it is by Rush.
Post-Production
The final process of creating our video was to gather all of our files -- narrative, audio recording, pictures, and music -- and edit it into one file using Final Cut Pro. Unfortunately, we didn't complete our editing in time to show our video to the class, but we completed it shortly after.
We had a very good experience, and a lot of fun working on our Rush documentary, and we hope that you, as viewers, will enjoy it.
