Short Essay Assignment (Grade 8 Experience)

 

Instructions:

For a team of four within your advisory. Your team should select one of the topics assigned to their house. Each team member must then select two questions that they will investigate as well as one of the suggested activities.

 

Objective:

Produce a 3 paragraph report relating to the two topic questions that you selected and the afternoon activity that you conducted. Your final essay should include a table or a graph that represents your observations from your chosen activity. Also, put your name at the top of the page and in parentheses, list the two questions you are investigating to the right of your name. Below this, list the members in your team.

 

Specific Objectives:

  1. Use Boolean searching techniques to find scholarly websites that provide answers to your two chosen topic questions.
  2. Prepare a one paragraph response for each question (two paragraphs totaling 200 to 250 words in total)
  3. Prepare a table that you will print out and use to record data pertaining to your activity (Consult with your team and Supervisor to ensure that your table / data collection sheet will be relevant to your topic. Structure your data so that you will be able to produce a table of statistics and/or a graph).
  4. Write a third paragraph summarizing your findings as they relate to your selected activity.
  5. Include a table or graph in your report that was produced using Excel.
  6. Include a list of references
  7. Save your final project with your last name, your topic, & Gr8experience (example: Auclair_Recycling_gr8experience)
  8. Submit your final report as an attachment by 8pm Thursday evening via First Class to your assigned Supervisor (cc: Mr. Auclair).
  9. On your ‘Z’ drive, create a folder for each of your classes. Within your geography folder, create another folder called gr8experience. Save a copy of your essay in this folder.

 

NOTE: For all course, LCC wants you to get into the habit of naming your files in a structured manner. Typically, the file name should always start with your last name, followed by the course title, followed by the name of the project, and finally, the version number (example: auclair_geo_gr8experience_v3)ßin this case, v3 means it’s the third time I revised the project.
